Medicated Ovulation Induction
Supporting ovulation, calm, and cycle balance
What is Medicated Ovulation Induction?
Medicated ovulation induction, sometimes called a medicated cycle or timed intercourse with fertility medications, is often the first medical step for people beginning their fertility journey.
This approach uses medication to encourage the ovaries to develop and release eggs. It may be used when ovulation is irregular or absent (as in PCOS or anovulation), or even when cycles are regular, to boost follicle development and increase the chances of conception.
Common medications include:
- Clomiphene citrate (Clomid)
- Letrozole (Femara)
- Gonadotropin injections (FSH/LH)
Sometimes additional steps are included, such as ultrasound monitoring, a “trigger shot” to time ovulation, or intrauterine insemination (IUI).
How Acupuncture Supports Medicated Cycles
Acupuncture is a gentle therapy that can support the body throughout a medicated ovulation cycle by:
- Reducing stress before and during treatment
- Improving blood flow to the ovaries and uterus
- Supporting ovulation and hormonal balance
- Helping implantation during the two-week wait
- Minimizing side effects from fertility medications
A Supportive, Integrative Approach
At Yinstill, we align acupuncture treatments with your medicated cycle to help your body and mind feel supported every step of the way:
- Before medication: acupuncture may help regulate cycles, build energy, and prepare the body for ovulation induction.
- During medication (stimulation phase): treatments can support ovarian response, uterine lining development, and reduce stress or side effects.
- After ovulation (two-week wait): acupuncture helps calm the nervous system, support implantation, and provide emotional stability until pregnancy testing.
Closing Reassurance
Beginning a medicated cycle is an important step on the path to pregnancy. While it can bring both hope and stress, acupuncture offers a safe, supportive way to help your body respond to treatment and feel more balanced throughout the process.
