Preparing for IVF & Embryo Transfer

Thoughtful, structured support for your IVF journey

If you’re planning an IVF or embryo transfer cycle, preparation matters. IVF care begins well before treatment and continues through the cycle itself. At Yinstill, IVF preparation supports your overall reproductive health in a way that reflects biological timelines, works system-wide, and meets you where you are – whether you’re early in planning or already moving forward.

IVF can be intense — physically and emotionally — and having steady support matters.

Why Preparation Matters

IVF success doesn’t begin on the day of treatment – it begins months before.
Eggs and sperm both develop over multi-month cycles, and the body’s hormonal, metabolic, and nervous systems all influence how reproductive processes unfold.

Preparing ahead allows time to:

  • Support hormone balance
  • Improve circulation and tissue responsiveness
  • Reduce stress and nervous-system load
  • Promote healthier egg, sperm, and uterine environments

Aligning preparation with biology helps support IVF care in a steady, time-based way.

Our Approach to Preparing for IVF

At Yinstill, we create individualized preparation plans that are evidence-informed, consistent, and paced to your timeline – whether you’re months away from your IVF cycle or ready to start soon.

We integrate clinical assessment with whole-person care – supporting body, nervous system, and lived experience – working collaboratively with your medical team.

Core Components of IVF Preparation

Our preparations may include:

Acupuncture for IVF Support

Research on acupuncture in the context of IVF has demonstrated physiological effects relevant to reproductive care, including:

  • regulation of stress physiology and nervous system activity
  • increased circulation to reproductive tissues
  • influence on hormonal signaling and cycle regulation
  • support of the endometrial and uterine environment
Targeted Supplementation

Supplementation within IVF preparation is guided by research on nutritional support for reproductive physiology and may include:

Glutathione & Antioxidant Therapies (when available)

Glutathione is used within IVF preparation as part of an evidence-informed antioxidant strategy and includes:

    • antioxidant support relevant to reproductive cell health
    • protection against oxidative stress affecting eggs and sperm
    • consideration in contexts such as advancing reproductive age, prior IVF cycles, or known toxin exposure
    • research examining glutathione’s role in fertility and reproductive physiology
Herbal &  Prescription Medication Support

Herbal and prescription support within IVF preparation is guided by clinical assessment and includes (when appropriate):

  • cycle regulation and hormone support
  • support for ovarian response and endometrial lining development
  • male factor support, including prescription options such as clomiphene when clinically appropriate
Lifestyle & Nutrition Coaching

Lifestyle guidance within IVF preparation focuses on physiological regulation and nervous system stability and includes:

  • reducing inflammatory load, supporting sleep quality, and balancing movement and exercise
  • minimizing exposure to alcohol, endocrine disruptors, plastics, and highly processed foods
  • strengthening emotional resilience and supporting a sense of safety and calm within the body

When to Start Your IVF Preparation

Egg and sperm development unfold over time. Both begin their growth and maturation process approximately 70–120 days before ovulation or ejaculation, which means the foundations for an upcoming IVF cycle are influenced well before treatment begins.

For this reason, many people choose to begin preparation several months in advance. That said, support is beneficial and can start at any point. Treatment plans and timelines are adjusted based on individual needs, medical context, and where you are in your IVF process.

An initial consultation helps clarify timing and next steps.

A Note on Male Fertility & IVF Preparation:

Male reproductive health plays a meaningful role in IVF and embryo development. When relevant, IVF preparation at Yinstill also includes structured support for male partners, aligned with sperm development timelines and integrated alongside medical care.

Acupuncture & IVF:
Evidence-Informed Support

Acupuncture is commonly used as part of IVF preparation and cycle support. Research has examined its effects in areas relevant to assisted reproductive care, including:

  • stress and nervous system regulation
  • uterine blood flow and endometrial environment
  • hormonal signaling and cycle regulation
  • preparation and support around embryo transfer procedures

At Yinstill, acupuncture is integrated thoughtfully within a broader, structured care plan and used alongside medical fertility treatment when appropriate.

Acupuncture is used as a supportive component of care and does not replace medical fertility treatment.

Collaborative Care

Your Medical Team & Yinstill

IVF preparation at Yinstill is designed to complement care provided by your fertility clinic. Support is integrated alongside medical protocols and adapted to where you are in your IVF process – from stimulation and retrieval through embryo transfer and beyond.

Your Next Step: Choosing the Right Consultation

Preparation begins with clarity. An initial consultation helps us understand your history, review relevant labs, and map supportive care to your IVF or IUI timeline.

Which consultation is right for you depends on timing:

If your egg retrieval, IUI, or FET (embryo transfer) is within the next month

Book an Initial IVF / FET / IUI Acupuncture appointment (in-clinic). This visit helps us align care with your immediate cycle timing and outline a short-term support plan around your procedure.

If your egg retrieval, IUI, or FET is more than one month away

Book an Initial Female Fertility Consultation. This consult allows time to review your history and labs, clarify priorities, and create a structured preparation plan leading into your cycle.

Care at Yinstill is offered through both ongoing care programs and individual sessions.
