Dr. Laura Erwin
Dr. Erwin started her journey with Yinstill in 2019, diving deeply into the intimate needs of people on their pathway to pregnancy. Laura has a gentle approach to treating reproductive health & fertility challenges with Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture & herbal medicine). She appreciates that healing is a personal journey that takes time and is not always linear. Her relaxed, calm demeanour will help you feel welcome in the treatment room. She aspires to be an ally you can lean on, encouraging you and your body towards it’s own growth and wisdom.
Laura graduated from the five-year DTCM program at the Tzu Chi International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver, BC. She is currently registered as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Dr. TCM). She is passionate about holistic medicine and understands the dedication required for optimal health and wellbeing.
Her interest in health and wellness began in early adulthood when she first experienced the benefits of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for treating acne. After that introduction, it was a slow and steady journey towards becoming a practitioner herself.
Laura completed her undergraduate degree in 2015 with honours at UBC, in the Global Resource Systems program with a focus in Human Ecology. She explored cultural anthropology, botany and indigenous history in North America. As well, she took a semester in Dublin, Ireland, and dove into her roots with classes in Irish folklore and ancestral healing practices.
Her love of plants and medicine was taken to the next level in a western herbalism apprenticeship on Salt Spring Island from 2015-2017. The immersive learning allowed for deep appreciation for the spiritual aspect of healing and the value of connecting with plants in nature. It was a natural choice then to pursue a career in Traditional Chinese Medicine for its comprehensive and well-documented herbal knowledge. The nature-based wisdom of TCM is both simple and profoundly complex, and it shall allow for many years of continued exploration.
Away from the clinic, she enjoys yoga, walks in nature, baking and ecstatic dance.
