😋 Ayurvedic "Golden Brown" Milk⁠ ⁠
- an alternative to sugary hot chocolate - ⁠
⁠
Perfect for cold winter nights: This is a divine chocolatey spin on the famous healing Golden Milk (a traditional Indian Ayurvedic drink, also known as haldi doodh, that in its simplest form is made by blending hot milk and ground turmeric.) ⁠
⁠
Why it's magic: The coconut oil and black pepper help with the bioavailability of the anti-inflammatory turmeric, which is fat-soluble. Inflammatory ageing is an increasingly researched concept in the field of ageing and is closely associated with multiple diseases, including infertility, ovarian decline and menstrual disorders. Anti-inflammatories such as turmeric, a powerful example, are central to combating a chronic and low-degree proinflammatory state in the body that can impact fertility. And this hot chocolate is vegan, for extra points!⁠

How to prepare: ⁠

Warm a cup of milk of choice:⁠
⁠
Add:⁠
⁠1 tbsp. of cacao⁠
⁠1 tsp. turmeric⁠
⁠1 tsp. nutmeg⁠
⁠1 tsp. cinnamon⁠
⁠½ tsp. ginger⁠
⁠½ tsp. cardamom⁠
⁠1 tbsp. coconut oil⁠
⁠A crack of black pepper⁠
⁠
Stir gently until smooth and creamy ⁠
⁠Sweeten with Organic Maple Syrup to taste, if required. ⁠
⁠Garnish with an extra sprinkle of ground cinnamon or a whole stick to feel glamourous.⁠

We move from the outgoing active nature of Summer into the more contemplative and slow-paced nature associated with Fall. It is a transitional period between a time of Yang (Summer) and a time of Yin (Winter). It is important to adjust our lifestyles to be more in tune with the seasons to avoid dis-ease. ⁠

Autumn in TCM theory is associated with Metal and Lungs. The Lung is the seen as the connection between the body and the outside world and can be easily made unbalanced. Here are some tips to transition a bit more ease-fully this season: ⁠

🍂 Eat more cooked vegetables and warm dishes with seasonal foods such as squash and root veggies. ⁠
⁠
🍂 Start drinking warming beverages such as warm water with lemon or herbal tea. ⁠
⁠
🍂 Soak up the beauty of nature by taking a walk and admiring the changing colour of the leaves and crisp air.⁠

🍂 Slow down by adjusting your exercise routine, social life, and avoid over scheduling. ⁠
