How to properly do a post-holiday cleanse (and why your body desperately needs it)

The month of December is such an incredible time during which most of us get to catch up with family, friends, loved ones, and of course some of our favourite foods. When advising patients during the holidays, I normally tell them not to worry about this. Normally I encourage my patients to eat as they normally would over the holidays, and get back on track with healthy eating habits in January. Therefore, the start of a new year creates a great opportunity for you to cleanse and reset your whole system to set the tone for a healthy year.

Low Vitamin D Levels Tied To Prostate Cancer Growth

Research has shown that there is a link between prostate cancer and low vitamin D levels. They have found that men with prostate cancer tend to have lower levels of vitamin D. This relationship is still being researched.
These findings are suggesting vitamin D slows the tumor cells life cycle and prevents growth by promoting cellular differentiation and reducing tumor blood vessel formation.

As a naturopathic doctor, I get this question A LOT. Women generally aren’t given very specific guidance around how they should be eating when undergoing fertility treatment since IVF clinics are so busy and there is lots of information like injections, labs, imaging, schedules, etc, to go over without delving into nutrition. However, this often neglected aspect of a woman’s life is of great importance. After all, you are what you eat.

Guest post by Krista A. Parr, R.H.N.

If the thought of dipping carrot sticks into a bowl of bright pink paste seems peculiar, I urge you to give beets a chance and try this dip!
