Dr. Spence Pentland, TCM
Creator of The Yinstill Fertility Method™ and
Co-Founder of Yinstill Reproductive Wellness
Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Dr. TCM)
Founder & Clinical Director, Yinstill Reproductive Wellness
For more than twenty years, Dr. Spence Pentland has devoted his clinical work to fertility and reproductive health – one of the most emotionally complex and meaningful experiences a person can face. Since 2004, he has supported women and couples navigating fertility challenges and has seen how deeply this process intersects with identity, relationships, uncertainty, and time.
In my clinical work, I’ve learned that fertility care works best when it’s steady, phase-based, and responsive – rather than rushed or driven by isolated interventions. I built Yinstill on the belief that people deserve care that reflects the complexity of fertility without reducing them to protocols or outcomes.
Our Family
On a personal note, Chantal and I too had our challenges with creating our family. It took seven pregnancies to have our three wonderful children. It was when Chantal turned to Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine that our struggles ended. The amazing care at Yinstill gave her and her body the support it needed.
Dr. Pentland is the founder of Yinstill Reproductive Wellness and the creator of The Yinstill Fertility Method™ – a structured, integrative, phase-based framework (often described as seasons of care) designed to replace confusion and overwhelm with clarity, containment, and clinically grounded direction. His work bridges evidence-informed acupuncture, Chinese medicine, lifestyle strategy, and collaboration with medical teams.
For more than two decades, Dr. Pentland has worked closely with major fertility clinics in the region, including Pacific Centre for Reproductive Medicine, Grace Fertility, and Genesis Fertility Centre. This collaborative depth has refined his clinical precision and strengthened how Yinstill supports patients alongside modern reproductive medicine.
Dr. Pentland has also contributed to academic research in the field. Alongside Dr. Jeffrey Roberts and Dr. Christine Sutton of the University of British Columbia, he co-authored research published in Fertility and Sterility examining the stress-reducing effects of acupuncture in the weeks leading up to IVF embryo transfer – reinforcing the role of nervous system regulation in reproductive care.
In 2015, he authored Being Fertile, written to offer understanding and practical guidance to individuals and couples experiencing difficulty starting or expanding their families. I wrote the book because I wanted patients to have a clear, steady reference point – something that supports orientation and follow-through between visits.
Dr. Pentland is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and previously served as President of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of British Columbia as well as on the provincial Quality Assurance Committee. He remains committed to education, collaboration, and thoughtful integration of Chinese medicine within modern reproductive care.
Patients often describe Dr. Pentland’s presence as calm, steady, and grounding. My goal is not to intensify urgency – it’s to help people feel informed, resourced, and supported, so decisions stay clear as care unfolds. This approach emphasizes clinical reasoning, nervous system steadiness, and consistent care over time.
Outside the clinic, Spence is a husband to his wife Chantal and a father to three sons. His work is anchored in a simple truth: family matters. That reality keeps his work practical and human: supporting the physiology, protecting the nervous system, and aligning care with real life.
