Hello Everyone,
My name is Sean Quigley, a Chinese Medicine acupuncturist now living in the amazing city of Kingston, Ontario – home to wonderfully friendly people and crisp clean air. I grew up not too far from Kingston and have returned to Ontario with my family after twenty years away.
Some of this time away was spent travelling and living in Tainan, Taiwan where my interest and education into Chinese medicine was sparked and cultivated. I studied taichi, qigong, and kungfu with several different masters – really incredible people who shared deeper knowledge of these disciplines and opened my eyes to a different and effective way of exercise and being healthy. Along the way I had many interactions and treatments with local Chinese medicine clinics (the bone-setter being one memorable moment!), and I was always amazed at the efficiency and effectiveness of acupuncture.
After some time abroad, Vancouver become home and my interest and curiosity in acupuncture grew as I utilized it more and more as a patient. Eventually I found myself a full-time student at the oldest Chinese medicine school in Canada – with a newborn child at home! What was I thinking?! Needless to say, I immersed myself in learning and with the support of my incredible partner I finished school with two children in tow. College served to educate and give me the ability to practice acupuncture, but it also deepened my interest and curiosity in this entire system of health and how we can best apply it in Canada.
After graduation, I began to practice with Yinstill in Vancouver giving me the opportunity to mentor with some incredible acupuncturist practitioners and to continue with postgraduate studies. This guided me to understand and implement systems and evidence-based protocols that exist for acupuncture as a therapeutic mode, especially when in comes to reproductive healthy and infertility. Working with Yinstill and closely with IVF clinics in Vancouver allowed me to help hundreds of men, women and couples navigate their own struggles with infertility gave me a real appreciation for the physical and emotional realities of fertility and reproductive health issues.
Yinstill has over 30 years of collective experience in reproductive health care and I am happy to be a part of their team for collaboration, support and education. At the same time, I am really excited to be a practitioner at Full Circle Health Network in Kingston; both groups remain committed to bringing the highest quality care to all their patients as well as being a fantastic bunch of people.
