PCOS Treatment – Step #1

First of all, I want to express my humble opinion that Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a very treatable condition if commitment to necessary lifestyle changes and recommended treatment is sustained over a reasonable period of time. This should be empowering and aid in cultivating hope that you can restore health and achieve pregnancy.

It all starts with the creation of specific goals, both in life and health. When these goals are clear they become a road map for choices made each day and so that we can properly monitor treatment progress. Typically the primary health goals are related to the key signs and symptoms that when balanced/augmented will facilitate the manifestation of regular menstrual cycles. It is ideal to achieve three healthy regular menstrual cycles before trying to conceive. When goals are achieved, you are closer to your vision of increased health, pregnancy, and the dream of a healthy baby.

The following are common treatment goals for women with PCOS; get more quality sleep, reduce stress, lose weight, regulate blood sugar/insulin levels, reduce levels of circulating male hormones (androgens) estrogens and luteinizing hormone, lower homocysteine levels, mediate inflammation, manage acne, eliminate excess hair growth, stop hair loss, promote regular ovulation & cycles, optimize overall deficiencies in health, reduce chances of miscarriage, and aid in carrying pregnancy to term.

When the recommended 10 step PCOS treatment plan is deeply committed to, three healthy regular menstrual cycles and pregnancy is often achieved within a 6-12 month treatment period.
