Too young for donor eggs

My story starts off in October 2008 when my husband and I found out that we had unexplained fertility issues. My Husband was 33 and I was 30 years old. Despite being told by several doctors that we were young and not to worry, it was unsettling. We started a cycle of clomiphene and IUI, which failed after 3 cycles. We were then recommended to try IVF. I never thought we would have to take this route of action,

Unexplained infertility and several unsucessful IVFs

My husband and I decided to have a child when I was 30. We stopped BCP, but nothing happened! After 7 months of trying we went to see the doctor and she did all possible tests, which came back completely normal. The following 6 years we did not use any birth control and I got pregnant 3 times – all miscarriages. Fertility clinics labeled me with “unexplained infertility”. At age 36 we tried a few IUI –

My FSH level was 16…I only had one egg retrieved

2 years after having my first child we started to try for a second baby. Since the first time it happened quickly and easily we assumed it would be the same again. After 7 months of trying (and because I was 39 years old) our doctor suggested we see a specialist at PCRM and start the process to see what was going on. After initial tests and consultation with Dr. Roberts at PCRM we received devastating news.

I can do it with my own eggs!

I have suffered from infertility for a long time. I had done an IVF that went really bad. I got 14 eggs, 6 mature that 5 of them arrested the next day. I had just one very bad quality embryo to transfer and of course no pregnancy. When I saw my doctor after this failed IVF he strongly recommended donor egg to me. I was devastated.

Then I met Dr. Pentland at PCRM.

Our little embryo(s) will have a healthy endometrial lining to burrow into

“Ever since I have been coming to Yinstill I have noticed that my periods have really changed, they used to be scant and mostly brownish in colour and would last usually just a day or two. After a just few months of acupuncture treatments they are much heavier and have a very healthy colour of bright red, and they last upwards of 4-5 days. Now I feel very excited about entering into my 2nd round of IVF after a devastating failure our first time around,

There is hope…

After my wife and I tried unsuccessfully to conceive for two years, we were faced with the daunting prospect of finding out “why”? Through a series of tests it was determined that my sperm morphology was a likely culprit. Thus began my adventure with Spence Pentland.

The idea that my sperm were somewhat dysfunctional was a thought that had never occurred to me. I admit that I did not handle the news all that well.

After 2 Miscarriages…

After two early miscarriages and almost two years of trying for a successful pregnancy with no identifiable reason for our troubles, we decided to look into IVF and happened to come across the website for Spence. I decided to try acupuncture and herbal teas as way of preparing for IVF. I enjoyed my weekly treatments, in part for the opportunity to simply relax and take some time for myself. After all the frustration and disappointment of the previous two years,

I travelled a long road

My infertility nightmare started almost 3 years ago when my husband and I started trying to conceive, I was 36 at the time. After 7 months I became pregnant but unfortunately lost the pregnancy at 6 weeks. The months following my miscarriage are a very black time in my life. I grieved our loss and became increasingly depressed due to our inability to conceive and maintain a pregnancy. (I had chemical pregnancies following the first miscarriage).

After Several Unsuccessful IVF Attempts…

Dear Spence & Alda, After a long difficult journey including several unsuccessful IVF attempts, I was beginning to believe that I could never become pregnant. When a friend recommended acupuncture we had already decided that this IVF cycle would be the last but that I would do anything to increase my chance of success.

I did not anticipate the profound effect of acupuncture on my sense of well-being and on my emotional, psychological and physical state.
