7 Reasons to Ditch the Coffee During Preconception and Pregnancy

If you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, you’ve probably been told by your doctor that coffee is completely safe. Some sources specify a limit of 200mg of caffeine per day, which is equal to roughly one cup of coffee. Well, I beg to differ and want to share with you my thoughts on why it’s best to avoid caffeine altogether during preconception and pregnancy. Please note that all references can be found at the end of this article.

Explaining the Unexplained (Infertility)

Hearing that you have “unexplained infertility” can be one of the most frustrating things for a couple trying to conceive, yet this is one of the most common “diagnoses” for infertility in North America. There is obviously no specific criteria for this diagnosis other than being unable to conceive*, and not finding any other medical reason for infertility, which makes unexplained infertility a diagnosis of exclusion.

Due to a lack of understanding behind unexplained infertility,

How Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can help with Unexplained Infertility

From a person’s perspective, ‘unexplained infertility’ is a frustrating assessment. After testing, time and examination by specialists it has been determined that there is no physiological reason pregnancy is not taking place. According to the government of Canada infertility can be traced to either the man or woman, or a combination of both, and approximately 20% of infertility is unexplained.

From a Chinese medicine perspective, ‘unexplained infertility’ is a favorable diagnosis to work with,

Healthy Baby Boy!

Before visiting Spence, I felt so alone, frustrated, disappointed and sad every month when my cycle would start yet again. Almost all my friends, family and close co-workers were pregnant / having babies. I was surrounded by all these lucky people who didn’t have any problems conceiving so it was hard to find someone to talk to who really understood the ups and downs of what I was going through. I appreciated friends listening to me,

My acupuncture treatments for infertility, then pregnancy

My husband and I started to try to conceive when I was 35 and after 2 years of trying, we had no idea why I wasn’t getting pregnant. After being tested at the fertility clinic, we were told our infertility issues were “unexplained”. I had a friend who was going to acupuncture treatments for fertility issues too, and I asked her about it. Up until then, I had never even considered acupuncture for anything. I met Erin in June 2009 and upon meeting her,

Unexplained infertility and several unsucessful IVFs

My husband and I decided to have a child when I was 30. We stopped BCP, but nothing happened! After 7 months of trying we went to see the doctor and she did all possible tests, which came back completely normal. The following 6 years we did not use any birth control and I got pregnant 3 times – all miscarriages. Fertility clinics labeled me with “unexplained infertility”. At age 36 we tried a few IUI –

I travelled a long road

My infertility nightmare started almost 3 years ago when my husband and I started trying to conceive, I was 36 at the time. After 7 months I became pregnant but unfortunately lost the pregnancy at 6 weeks. The months following my miscarriage are a very black time in my life. I grieved our loss and became increasingly depressed due to our inability to conceive and maintain a pregnancy. (I had chemical pregnancies following the first miscarriage).
