Boosting Testosterone & Sexual Function

Testosterone is a male sex hormone responsible for optimal sperm production and plays a central role in overall health and vitality in men.

Low testosterone is associated with decreased fertility, low libido, erectile dysfunction, depression, low energy, inflammation, weight gain, and poor general health. Low levels of testosterone also increase chances of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, as well as some cancers.

Testosterone is measured by calculating total testosterone, then subtracting the amount which is bound (unusable) by SBGH (sex hormone binding globulin) to arrive at how much free (usable) testosterone is present.

New Research: Omega 3 fatty acids for egg quality…

New research (the first of its kind) recently published in Fertility & Sterility has shown that the Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) content in the cell membranes of human eggs (oocytes) could be correlated to egg quality.  This makes perfect sense as the same is true and well-accepted science with sperm quality. Time to take your (quality) fish oils!

The membranes that protect and hold together our cells, mitochondria, and DNA are primarily made up of PUFA.

THE EFFECTS OF GLUTATHIONE ON INFERTILITY

WHAT IS OXIDATIVE STRESS?

Oxidative stress has a well-established role in the cause of explained and unexplained infertility. Oxidative stress is an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and protective antioxidants, and this influences the reproductive health of men and women. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), in excess, can cause disruption to normal cellular function and can damage cells (in particular mitochondria, & DNA of the sperm and egg) and tissues.

Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are increased by the consumption of sugars and oxidized vegetable oils,

Sleep helps you lose weight

Sleep is important for many other things, including reducing your risk of cancer and Alzheimer’s, proper digestion, regulating inflammation, memory, slowing telomere shortening, and the list goes on.

There are 2 stages of sleep; 1. non-REM (which has 1, 2, and slow-wave stages) and 2. REM. Just to keep it simple, they are all important for different reasons.

Over 50% of our gene regulation is governed by our circadian rhythm, i.e.

If you haven’t got there quite yet, then I am sure you have at least thought about it, or see the possibility out there on the horizon. ‘Screw it, I am sick of trying‘. On some level it feels freeing to say and feel this way I am sure, it may even be healing, maybe. Just the thought of being done with the struggle of infertility may seem euphoric.  But alas, getting to this place doesn’t come so easily.
